How much do Croatians care for their teeth?
From December 8th to February 28th on Plidenta’s fan page on Facebook, a respectable 1140 people filled out a survey on oral hygiene. Detailed results can be found at http://www.facebook.com/plidenta.hr?v=app_124171847643597.
We cannot consider the results representative, but they can largely show the main direction and trends of the oral hygiene of Croatians. Almost every second person surveyed (47.8%) brushes their teeth twice a day, with a limited number of meals, maximum five. We can then more or less calculate the maintenance of the balance in the mouth. Most people surveyed answered that way. There were fewer who brushed three times a day (24.5%), as well as those who brushed once a day (15.8%), or those who brushed at will (11.4%). A small percentage (0.3%) found these hygienic measures a foreign subject. The basic preventive measure of oral health care is hygiene, of teeth and of the entire mouth, including the surface of the tongue, which is home to many bacteria. Brushing the teeth and mouth is a personal activity with which we prevent and control the appearance of cavities (tooth decay), ailments of the support system of the teeth and the soft tissue of the mouth. The purpose of health care training is to improve the results received so that brushing teeth will become a daily need and a habit that will help us keep our teeth healthy and our smiles beautiful.
Dentist visits are important in the oral health care chain. Professional examinations will uncover the slightest sign of decay development. It is best to have check-ups twice a year, which was expressed by a large number of those surveyed (33.3%). Those who visit their dentist several times in six months (17.8%) are likely those whose oral health requires increased care, probably according to an evaluation by a professional. It isn’t good for a visit to the dentist to be only due to health problems.
Tooth decay, cavities, is a very widespread social illness because they affect the economic status of the community. Because of that, preventive measures (regular brushing) are important for preventing disease so that the need for restoration, which is one of the most common reasons for visiting dentists (24.4%), decreases. A large number of those surveyed (20.5%) listed gum inflammation as a common occurrence. That condition is usually the consequence of inadequate hygiene and excessive tooth deposits (expressed by 8.7% of those surveyed), the appearance of tartar, untreated tooth decay, irregularly positioned teeth, poor or expired fillings and dentures, which damage gums. Inflammatory changes are joined by the bleeding of gums (15.5% of the answers). Following professional advice gives good results and prevents the spreading of disease. Receding gums (6.1% of answers) is a concerning condition. It most often appears with people who use the wrong technique or more commonly, a brush that is too hard for their teeth. A bare root is oversensitive to heat and other influences, and it is aesthetically unappealing. It is definitely reason enough to visit a dentist. Teeth are naturally different shades, from extremely white to yellowish. It is now fashionable to have white teeth. The final decision regarding any potential whitening should be made by a professional.

Those surveyed in the Plidenta survey on Facebook say that it is most important that toothpaste protects teeth and gums (31.7% of answers). A good toothpaste must contain active ingredients for creating a lather that can enter in the space between teeth and so contribute to the removal of food particles, and the medicinal ingredients can also act on inaccessible surfaces. Multifunctional toothpastes are popular (27.3% of answers). Plidenta always strives to have the richest and best toothpaste content.
The toothpaste content is listed on the packaging and the tube, and so it is important to read it to inform yourself. The pleasant taste and deodorizing action (17.7% of answers) are very important, as well as the medicinal effects on the tooth surface and the gums. Whitening teeth is important to 11.7% of those surveyed. Toothpastes with medicinal ingredients also have a polishing agent, which cannot harm the tooth surface or the soft tissue. In order to lower that chance to the smallest possible degree, the size and content of the polishing particle is important.
You buy toothpastes you trust (32.8%) and those you consider to be of high quality (27.5% of answers). You buy Plidenta because it is: reliable (32.8%), unique (23.2%), natural (22.05%), pleasant (17.59%), professional (15.75%), and reasonably priced (14.7%).
Buying toothpastes is usually simplified so the same is used by the entire family (73% of those surveyed). Since they have different content, their use and efficiency is different, which should be taken into account.
